About me: My name is Robert Simetzberger, and I was born and raised in Innsbruck. I completed my bachelor’s degree in Geography at the University of Innsbruck, where I discovered my passion for Geographic Information Systems (GIS). This interest motivated me to deepen my knowledge in computer science and informatics to tackle more complex and sophisticated tasks in this field.
To further specialize, I moved to Vienna to pursue a master’s degree in Cartography and Geoinformation, focusing on geoinformatics and spatial data science. Currently, I am working on my thesis, titled "Identifying Transit Deserts and Directional Dependencies in Vienna’s Public Transport Network."
Beyond my academic and professional pursuits, I have a deep appreciation for nature. Growing up in the Alps, I developed a love for skiing, hiking, climbing, and ski touring. After moving to Vienna, I also discovered a passion for running. These outdoor activities are not only a source of enjoyment but also a way to enhance my work. They help me maintain focus, achieve more, and often provide unexpected solutions to challenges, even when I’m not actively working. Engaging with nature gives me the mental space to recharge, leading to clearer thinking and a more balanced perspective.
I’m driven by a combination of curiosity, analytical thinking, and a desire to connect technology with the real world to create meaningful solutions.
